SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Bainbridge Island
Downtown Bainbridge
Bainbridge Island is within the ancestral territory of the "People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fishermen, canoe builders, and basket weavers, Suquamish people live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years.
Right off of the ferry terminal is downtown Bainbridge Island and Winslow Way. Lots of cute boutiques, restaurants, and bakeries to pop in and out of on a summer's day!
Wineries and Breweries: Vintage Wine Shop @ Harbor Square, Eagle Harbor Wine Co, Eleven Winery Tasting Room, Bainbridge Brewing Alehouse, Sisters Cider House
Bloedel Reserve
Carve out a few hours to explore Bloedel Reserve, a sprawling 140 acre garden. Enjoy a serene walk and observe native PNW flora, fauna, and wildlife. Advanced ticket booking recommended in the summer months!
Poulsbo
Downtown Poulsbo
Stroll through the quaint town of Poulsbo, known as Washington's "Little Norway". Enjoy local wine, food, coffee, and shopping. Pop by the marina for a stunning view of Liberty Bay.
Cayla's recs: Details Wine Bar, Abigails' Artful Abode, Front Street and Verksted Gallery, Liberty Bay Books, Byrdie's Coffee
Jacob's recs: Sluy's bakery (get the gingerbread man donut!), SEA Discovery Center aquarium, Valholl Brewing, Hot Shots Java
Breweries
Kitsap Peninsula’s microbrew craft beer scene took root in a Poulsbo farmhouse in the 1980’s when Thomas Kemper Brewing fermented beers and sodas along with it, created the local craft brew culture that we enjoy today. Their passion, know-how, relationships and expertise germinated into a family tree of brewers & breweries, laying the foundation for nearly two dozen independent breweries that now call the West Sound home.
Poulsbo recs: Slippery Pig Brewery, Western Red Brewing, Valholl Brewing, Rainy Daze Brewing, Echoes Brewing Company, Bushel & Barrel Ciderhouse
Arts Festival
Poulsbo's annual art festival will be taking place from August 14-16th, right in downtown Poulsbo on the waterfront park! Pop by to meet local artisans and browse original design jewelry, metal, ceramic, wood, and fabric art. Hours and artists included on website below.
Port Gamble
Downtown Port Gamble
Founded in 1853, Port Gamble serves as a living testament to Pacific Northwest history. We recommend exploring the expansive trail system, renting kayaks, and checking out some of the cafes and galleries in the downtown area.
Cayla's recs: Dahlia Cove Studio (high tea), Butcher & Baker Provisions, Gamble Bay Textiles (fiber artist collective), The Artful Ewe (yarn shop)
Jacob's recs: House 11 Taproom & Bottle Shop, Port Gamble General Store & Café, Olympic Outdoor Center
Trail System
Port Gamble hosts a trailhead that connects you to the expansive Kitsap trail system. Whether you want to go for a run, hike, walk, or mountain bike ride, there are so many trails to explore and take in the beauty of the evergreen trees.
Reach out to David for recommendations on exploring the Port Gamble trail system!
Greater Olympic Peninsula
Hama Hama Oyster Saloon
Cayla and Jacob love this oyster farm nestled on the shores of the Hood Canal. The Oyster Saloon is an outdoor, farm-to-table eatery specializing in fresh shellfish grown and harvested by Hama Hama. Advanced reservations are recommended in the summer months.
Port Townsend
Port Townsend is a historic seaport with a vibrant maritime community, delicious restaurants, and artist-supported galleries. Take a whale watching or wildlife cruise, explore the vibrant downtown food scene, or rent a bike to explore this distinct area of the Olympic Peninsula. The Port Townsend website has a full list of tours, rentals, and itineraries should you wish to explore.
GETTING THERE AND BACK AGAIN
Take Flight
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
We recommend timing your flight to land at least 5 hours before the Welcome Drinks event on Friday night, if you wish to attend.
Tip: arrive on Thursday and spend an extra day exploring Seattle!
GETTING TO POULSBO
Rent a car and/or take the Seattle Bainbridge ferry
There are two different ways to reach Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island. Regardless of your choice, we highly recommend renting a car for the weekend as Ubers are not the most reliable transportation option in the area.
We recomend the following options for getting to Poulsbo/Bainbridge:
- Drive over the scenic Tacoma Narrows Bridge, will will take roughly 90 minutes from downtown Seattle
- Take the ~35 minute ferry from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island, which is a both a "walk on" and "drive on" ferry
If you do not wish to rent a car and need a shuttle service from the airport, we recommend checking out the Kitsap Airporter shuttle, linked below.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
For Friday night Welcome Drinks, our dress code is Colorful Cocktail attire. The event will take place outdoors on a rooftop, so please bring a light jacket/extra layers in case it gets chilly as the sun sets.
For the wedding, our dress code is Garden Formal. Ladies, dress in summery hues and bring on the color and glamour! Ruffles, textures, and florals are encouraged, midi to floor length dresses. Men, suits or dress pants with a button-down shirt and tie. Jackets are optional but encouraged. We kindly ask that all guests avoid wearing white or very pale colors that may appear white in photos. Garden-inspired colors such as floral tones, earthy hues, or botanical colors are all great choices. If you are wearing heels, please keep in mind that our ceremony will take place outdoors on a grass lawn before moving indoors for our reception.
On Sunday, please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, and keep in mind that the BBQ will take place outdoors on our deck and grass lawn. Keep it casual and come as you are!
Is this an adults-only wedding?
While we truly adore your little ones and cherish your family, our wedding ceremony and reception will be an adults-only celebration besides our wedding party and babes in arms.
When should I travel in/out?
If you're coming by plane, we recommend flying in by Friday midday so you can join us for our Welcome Party in the evening. Another option is to fly in on Thursday, and spend Thursday night & Friday exploring Seattle before driving or taking the ferry over to Bainbridge Island.
We can't wait to spend Sunday hanging at the Cabin, and would advise scheduling travel for Sunday late afternoon/evening or Monday, so you can enjoy vibing and imbibing with us!
Where should I stay?
You can book at one of our following hotel blocks:
Poulsbo Inn & Suites: call to make a reservation under the Seligman-Brueckman block
Fairfield by Marriott: use link to book or call for the Seligman-Brueckman block
The following hotels, as well as Airbnb and VRBO, are available in the Kitsap area:
- Clearwater Casino
- Eagle Harbor Inn Bainbridge Island
- Marshall Suites Bainbridge Island
- Quality Inn and Suites Bainbridge Island
When should I book my lodging?
We recommend booking your hotel room or Airbnb in the next few months! Poulsbo & Bainbridge are small towns, and in the summer season, lodging will fill up very quickly. We would recommend aiming for May/June to finalize your lodging choice.
Do I need to rent a car?
Although Ubers are generally available in both Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo (and certainly from Seatac airport/downtown Seattle), we would recommend renting a car to fully enjoy exploring the area over the weekend.
We recommend checking out the Bremerton-Kitsap Airporter, if you'd like to book a shuttle option directly from the airport.
Are there other events during the weekend?
We will be hosting welcome drinks on Friday evening from 7:30 - 10pm at Fletcher Bay Rooftop on Bainbridge Island, and a BBQ from 11am - 3pm on Sunday at the Seligman cabin.
Who should I reach out to if I have questions?
For any questions not covered on our website, please call or text Cayla anytime at (425) 614 - 7068 or Jacob at (425) 945 - 6081.
